The staff at United Kenya Rising (UKR) travel to families on motorbikes, and one team member who puts serious mileage on his odometer is Dennis, the staff veterinarian. Dennis travels across every community we support, training families on preventative care while diagnosing and curing livestock illnesses.

From farm ventures to roadside green grocers and bustling market centers, families we serve are working hard today and every day finding a new sense of financial stability. See some of the ways parents build their own visions of long-term self-reliance by combining hard work with Family Care's three years of training and resources.

In this update we celebrate the humble leafy vegetable and its surprisingly central role in the lives of those we serve. From giant spinach to indigenous spider plant, leaves cooked in oil and onions are referred to broadly as mboga. And most Kenyans eat these greens every single day.

In one average day, UKR sends five families a total of about $320 through mobile money transfers. This update shows how that typically looks and the impact it unlocks.
