Sending your gifts on to families in need

All of the families we support have a $625 annual Family Care Budget, for each of their three years in our program. Every mobile money distribution from those budgets is tailored to a family's carefully-planned goal or specific critical need.
In one average day, UKR sends five families a total of about $320 through mobile money transfers. Below is an example of how that typically looks and the impact it unlocks.
EDUCATION
$38 so Lavender can take her high school graduation exam

After a young lifetime of studying, it was time for Lavender to take the high school graduation exam at the end of 2025.
During the three-weeks of strictly proctored tests, she could no longer count on using a classmate's calculator or compass. She needed her own tools, but her mother did not have the $21 needed. There were other costs, too, like a $17 mandatory fee covering lunches.
Drawing on the family's Family Care budget, UKR sent $38 to Lavender's mother so that these costs could be paid. A month ago, Lavender learned that she had passed the big exam and graduated high school.
LIVELIHOOD
$77 so Mildred can launch her beauty salon

In her first year of Family Care, Mildred developed a small business doing hair and nails for her neighbors. By her second year she was saving up to rent a stall of her own in the market center.
When she managed to get a space, UKR helped make it work by sending her money for a dozen sets of braids ($46) and for better supplies to manicure nails ($31). Since her humble start and this major step forward, Mildred has continued nurturing and growing her venture.
HEALTH
$43 so Timothy can get care and return to working his farm

Timothy is a UKR grandfather who often experienced breathing trouble during farm work. He had money for the doctor's visit, but not for tests or treatment. So he asked UKR for help affording care.
When his request was approved, UKR sent him funds through his phone for a chest scan ($24) and the recommended inhaler ($19).
Now, Timothy finds it much easier to work his farm growing food for his children and grandchildren.
DIGNIFIED HOMES
$108 so Rachael can furnish their family's new house

While most UKR families build a new house after joining Family Care, many don't yet own furniture. And it is tables, chairs, and beds that help a family's new house feel like their new home.
Rachael requested help furnishing her family's new house. Working with UKR staff, she settled on a table and seats ($54), and two twin beds ($27 each) for her and four children to share.
AGRICULTURE
$58 so Jackline's family can install vertical cone gardens

Vertical farming helps families grow lots of veggies for the kitchen in a very small space. The cone gardens Jackline wanted make great use of scarce compost, require little water in dry seasons, and last for years.
After agreeing with her farm officer, Jackline received funds for three kits ($19 each).
Multi-story cone gardens like the ones Jackline installed have become a common sight on UKR families' farms, and they're now being admired and copied by others. This simple technology provides families more vegetables with less resource, and in the process helps grow farmers' pride and motivation.
