We assist Kenyan students and their families as they rise out of poverty.
OUR VISION
A world without poverty where all people are equipped to lead the kinds of lives they want and value.
OUR PARTNERSHIP
We assist vulnerable families rising out of poverty by offering financial, technical, and other support to our partner organization, United Kenya Rising (UKR) in Kakamega, Kenya.
UKR’s staff, leadership, and board members are all Kenyan. The Family Care program that they run is locally-developed and locally-led.
THE FAMILY CARE PROGRAM
EDUCATIONAL SUCCESS
Where we work, cost is usually the greatest barrier to children’s learning. Academic success and choosing a career path are more challenging for children whose parents are not educated.
Through a combination of financial assistance, workshops, and counseling, Family Care ensures all children can access K-12 education and opens opportunities for youth to reach new heights.
AGRICULTURAL RESILIENCE
Despite being blessed with one of the rainiest climates on earth, farmers in western Kenya face great challenges. These include tiny farm plots, depleted soils, and a rapidly changing climate.
Family Care helps farmers sustainably increase their farms’ diversity and productivity, improving both nutrition and incomes.
GOOD HEALTH
Good health is a foundational element of life quality. In sickness, little else matters, but in good health it is possible to find the energy, mindset, and hope to work hard for a brighter future.
Family Care helps families to prevent illness, access medical care, and treat conditions in order to lead a healthy routine.
DIGNITY AT HOME
For families struggling to rise above poverty, a healthy home environment is a crucial step toward confidence in life and dignity in the community.
Family Care offers construction materials for families to rebuild their homesteads. It also ensures access to basic needs like clean water, light, and a decent place to sleep.
